Quick Mini Shopper!

I had some spare time this afternoon and a bunch of wool left over from other projects so I thought to myself, why not make a little bag? And the mini shopper was born!

It didn't take long, maybe 2 hours plus felting time. It was dead easy, if you fancy having a go yourself here's the pattern.

You will need:

About 150g pure wool aran weigh (I used hand dyed BFL aran)
7mm crochet hook

Directions:

Make 35 chains.
1 treble in 3rd chain from hook. 1 treble into each chain to end. Turn.
3 chains to count as 1st treble. 1 treble into each treble to end. Turn.
Repeat the last row until you have done 32 rows. Fasten off.

For the handles (make 2):

Make 50 chains.
Double chain into 2nd chain from hook. 1 double chain into each chain to end. Turn.
2 chains to count as 1st double chain. 1 double chain into each double chain to end. Fasten off.

To make up:

Sew the handles to the short sides of the bag, about half way between the centre point and the edge. Overlap the handles by about 2 rows for security. Fold the bag in half lengthways and sew up the side seams. Now you have a mini shopper ready for felting.

To felt it:

Put the bag in the washing machine with a pair of old jeans (with the fly/buttons fastened) and wash at 60 degrees with wool safe detergent.

Voila! One felted mini shopper! It measures about 8" x 10" once felted, perfect for a little handbag or a childs shopper but you can make it in a bigger size by making more chains and doing more rows.

Enjoy!
